"Sometimes you never know where life leads. In the fall of 1975, I was a freshman at UCLA and rushed several different fraternities. To my dismay, I didn’t receive one bid. At the time, I just thought, “It wasn’t meant to be.” Two years later, I convinced myself that I wasn’t cut out to be a pre-dental major and transferred to Cal State University Northridge to study business. At CSUN, I rushed Phi Delt, never went to another house, was extended a bid and became a Brother in the Bond."
"Now, fast forward 32 years later. Truly and without equal, my Phi Delta Theta experience is one of the greatest gifts I have ever received. My closest friends and greatest people in my life have been and will be my Phi Delt brothers. I am continually amazed and blessed at the caliber of men who have crossed my path and allowed me to be a part of their lives. We are truly part of the greatest men’s group that walks our planet."
"I have had the privilege to volunteer as an alumni club board member, province president and now am serving my fifth biennium on the General Council.
Those that I have served with as volunteers have displayed a level of unselfishness and love for our fraternity that escapes description, yet is observed, greatly appreciated and understood by the hearts of our brothers."
"There isn’t a man whom I’ve met, who hasn’t cast in stone his belief that he is a better man because of our fraternity.
I honestly hope and wish that each of you has the opportunity to experience the great wealth of our brotherhood that I have experienced. And remember--fail not to give back in your own way more than you were blessed."
A Piece of Advice for Phi Delts: "One of my lifelong heroes is arguably the greatest college basketball coach of all time, John Wooden. However, Coach Wooden was much more than a great coach but a wonderful human being and one of the finest examples of how anyone should lead their life. I leave you with one of his many sage sayings, “Make each day your masterpiece.” Phi Delta Theta is a masterpiece. I only wish Coach Wooden have been a Phi."
