Louisiana Beta (LSU) Caps Off Successful Year With Chapter and Individual Awards

The Louisiana State University Order of Omega awards ceremony held each spring semester recognized the hard work of the Louisiana Beta Chapter of Phi Delta Theta this past year.  The chapter received the award for Outstanding Fraternity Event for their "Golden Legion Reception and Banquet."  The chapter also received the distinction of "Order of Omega Outstanding Chapter," an award given to only four IFC fraternities of the 21 on campus. Also recognized were Order of Omega Vice President of Membership Brian Mouille, Greek Board of Directors President Stephen Collura, and Public Relations Assistant Director Paul Broussard.  Congratulations to brother Paul Broussard for being named the Greek Board of Directors new Vice President for 2012-2013!

tiger_12_2012.jpgCongratulations to brother Stephen Collura (second from left in picture) for being recognized as the 2011 LSU IFC Greek Man of the Year and as a member of LSU's 2012 Tiger Twelve Class.  Stephen has served the chapter most recently as president while simultaneously serving the Greek community as president of the Greek Board of Directors, along with several other campus leadership positions. LSU's Tiger Twelve recognizes 12 outstanding seniors, selected by faculty and staff, who as students have upheld the principles of LSU's Commitment to Community by "contributing positively to the life of the campus and surrounding community."  This is the highest honor the University awards to seniors and it is an honor to have a Louisiana Beta member recognized in this way. More information on the Tiger Twelve can be found here.

sorority_showdown.jpgThis past week Louisiana Beta held its Sorority Showdown.  The event raised awareness and over $2,000 for The ALS Association.  Sorority teams competed in field games and other activities with the brothers of Phi Delta Theta.  Congratulations to Chi Omega for winning the event!  Louisiana Beta thanks their sponsors and all who helped put on this great event and a special thank you to 2012 Philanthropy Chairman Nathan Herwig.  This was a  great way to end the semester at LSU while giving back to the ALS cause!

Finally, this past school year, the brothers of Louisiana Beta were very active in LSU Student Government. Brothers Tyler Loga, Ethan Daigle, Christian Glorioso, Nathan Herwig, Anthony Lane, and Samuel Eastman all served as senators in the legislative branch of student government in at least one semester. Brother Glorioso will continue his term as senator and chair a committee as well. Brothers Herwig and Eastman will also continue their terms as senators in the fall semester. Also, Brother Stephen Collura served as the Vice President of the E.J. Ourso College of Business this past year. Brother Jordan Parker was elected as a member-at-large to the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Additionally, Brother Patrick Kazar served on the Programming, Support, and Initiatives Fund committee this year. Brother Paul Broussard served as the Assistant to the Vice President on the Executive Branch and will continue to serve on the Executive Staff as the Director of Finance. Congratulations to all the brothers of Louisiana Beta on their great work this year and we wish them the best of luck on each of their future endeavors!
