Six Pennsylvania Mu (Widener) Phis Cycle 75 Miles For ALS Research |
On June 16th, six brothers from the Pennsylvania Mu Chapter at Widener University cycled 75 miles from Blackwood, New Jersey to Wildwood, New Jersey to raise money for ALS research in the ALS Express bike-a-thon.
The ALS Express is a non-competitive bike-a-thon that is fun for people of all ages and riding abilities. Hundreds of cyclists ride through scenic southern New Jeresey.
All funds raised by the ALS Express bike-a-thon support the research programs of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of The ALS Association, which funds more ALS-specific research than any other Non-Government Organization.
The Eileen Frank ALS Foundation was started in 1999 by the family and friends of Eileen Frank. After being diagnosed in 1999, Eileen lived with ALS for two years and ultimately lost her battle with the disease in January 2001.
The ride is hosted every year to honor her memory. The ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter works closely with the Eileen Frank Foundation to keep Eileen's memory alive by gathering family, friends and members of the community to help raise money for ALS research.
Thanks to the generous past support of the ALS Express bike-a-thon, almost $1 million has been raised for ALS research.
