Behind everything that makes you proud of Phi Delta Theta is strong leadership – leadership based upon our Cardinal Principles of friendship, sound learning, and rectitude. The Fraternity and the Phi Delta Theta Foundation are committed to developing strong leadership skills from the beginning of your membership. The Kleberg Emerging Leaders Institute was created to meet that goal. By bringing together the up and coming freshman and sophomore leaders from our chapters across the United States and Canada, we will create a Phi Delt learning labaratory where you will be able to learn leadership skills from your peers and distinguished alumni.

The Three Pillars of the Kleberg
The Kleberg experience is based on the Three Pillars: Purpose, Networking, and Leadership. These Pillars are not only essential characteristics and skills of exemplary Phis, but they are also the foundation for future success after graduation.

Purpose: Purpose is where we find our inspiration and our guiding principles. It is what gives our studies, actions, and work meaning. In Phi Delta Theta, our purpose stems from the Bond, the Three Cardinal Principles, and our Ritual. The Kleberg Emerging Leaders Institute brings our purpose to life as we explore our foundations that will guide your leadership practices. Participants will have opportunities to explore our Ritual and enjoy group discussions about its significance and how the Bond and our Ritual can be a map to greatness throughout your life.

Networking:
“One Man is No Man” takes on a whole new meaning for participants of the Kleberg. In virtually any field you enter after college, few things will be as influential and important as the relationships you will build over time. Increased networking skills will not only lead to better recruitment practices as an undergraduate, but they will also contribute to your professional and personal lives. By coming to Oxford for this Institute, you will not only have the opportunity to network with over 500 alumni, staff, volunteers, and undergraduates, but you will also experience recruitment skills training and learn best practices from others to help your Chapters when you return home.

Leadership: Leadership incorporates decision-making ability, setting examples for others, inspiring shared visions, seeing the larger picture of any situation, as well as discovering the potential of others. Leadership development is at the core of every program in Phi Delta Theta. At the Kleberg, participants will learn about different leadership styles in addition to how to lead calmly and effectively through risk management situations. As Emerging Leaders in Phi Delta Theta, the Kleberg Experience will help you in efforts to lead change within your Chapter, as well as to prepare you for leadership roles long after college.
