Being a part of a team is fun and a great way to stay physically fit. It is also a great way to learn about yourself, your teammates, how to be a good leader, and when to follow. Phi Delta Theta encourages all members to participate in the various athletic events available on campus for those reasons.
An additional benefit to being athletically involved is the potential to give back to the community. Many find it enjoyable to playing a game of flag football with your chapter brothers, but think of the rewarding impact if the game raised money for an important philanthropic cause. Many Phi Delta Theta chapters choose athletic endeavors to raise funds for worthy causes such as ALS research, the local children’s hospital, or cancer research.
Athletes compete on the field, on the court, in the pool, and also on the dance floor! Several chapters participate in Dance Marathon, a different type of athletic endeavor that raises money for charity. Others run, bike, or skateboard for a cure for AIDS.
Phi Delta Theta urges you to Go far in your athletic pursuits no matter how small or how large. The possibilities are endless.
