Ohio Gamma (Ohio) Phis to Bring Walk to Defeat ALS to Athens, Ohio

The Ohio Gamma Chapter at Ohio University is preparing for what they anticipate to be the largest philanthropic event in the Chapter’s history. On June 6th the Chapter is hosting a Walk to Defeat ALS in partnership with The ALS Association on the campus of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

As written by Greg Scott

Just as we are united in The Bond with the brothers in our own chapters we are united with those of other chapters and with a vast international network of alumni. This connection is why we at Ohio Gamma are compelled to provide the aid for our brother Lou Gehrig through helping support everyone who has the terrible misfortune of going through the same battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or is unfortunate enough to have to watch a family member or friend suffer from its progression.

For our first annual walk we have set our fund raising goal to be $18,680.00, inspired by the founding year of our Ohio Gamma chapter, 1868. The word is being spread across campus and now we want to make it international news for Phi Delta Theta. The partnership that Phi Delta Theta has with The ALS Association has grown to be something that is not only represented by our Fraternity as a whole but also put on display by individual chapters raising and donating money to the Association. We are inviting you to help us in our efforts as we hope to make this more than just a fundraiser done on a local level. We hope to exceed our goal and to do that we want to make this a Phi Delta Theta undertaking and not just an Ohio Gamma endeavor.

We know that most people will not be able to physically attend our walk in June but that is not the only way to be involved. To help us out, anyone can register to make a team or to join an existing team. A team can be any number of people who are working towards a fund raising goal who have individual goals of their own. If you cannot attend the walk you can register as a “virtual walker.” The easiest way to help us is to make a donation to our walk. Organizations, businesses, other chapters, alumni clubs, and of course individual people can make donations.
