Class of 2010 Peer Mentors Announced!
The General Council continues to support the Peer Mentor Program for
this year’s Emerging Leaders Institute. This program
focuses on improving the leadership and life skills of some of the
Fraternity's top leaders.
At ELI, the peer mentors are paired with a faculty member and help
facilitate the curriculum within their respective ELI chapter. The peer
mentors also participate in specialized educational
sessions during the course of the Institute. These special sessions
focus on their own leadership development as well as providing
them an opportunity to become more familiar with Phi Delta Theta as a
living organization.
The Peer Mentor Class of 2010 includes:
Andrew Cole - Indiana Epsilon - Hanover College
Brother Cole is currently serving his second term as the Chapter President at Indiana Epsilon and will graduate from Hanover College in May 2011, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Geology. Andrew also served as his Phikeia Class President and the Awards Chairmen for the past two years. He is involved with the college's Business Scholars program, is the founder of the College Pep Band and is actively involved in the College Republicans and Geology Club. After graduating Hanover he is looking at Law School or graduate school. Brother Cole has had the pleasure of attending ELI, PLC and the General Conventions of 2008 and 2010. While at ELI, he hopes to build on the
experience he gained as a facilitator of the Common New Member
Experience hosted by the Hanover College Greek Community.
Brandon Clark - Missouri Theta - Northwest Missouri State University
Brother Clark currently serves as the Phikeia Educator of the Missouri Theta chapter but has served in numerous other roles including President, Treasurer, and Warden. Maintaining a 3.28 in Organizational Communication and Spanish double major, Brandon is very involved at Northwest Missouri State University by serving as the IFC Vice President of Membership and Development, Student Senate Senior class representative, a Student Ambassador, and a Summer Orientation leader among other positions. Brandon has attended numerous conferences including ELI in the Summer of 2008, PLC in 2009, and MGCA/AFLV in 2009 and 2010, he also been the recipient of many awards including Order of Omega’s Outstanding Greek Man and Outstanding Fraternity President in 2010.
Carl Stanhope - Michigan Alpha - Univesity of Michigan
Brother Stanhope attends the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics and a minor in Physics. During his time at Ann Harbor he has made the Dean’s List three times, maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.6. He currently serves as the chapter’s recruitment chairman and is involved with the Move-in-Makers. As part of the College of Engineering, Carl works as an academic Peer Advisor/Orientation Leader. He attended the Emerging Leaders Institute in 2009 and attended Leadershape this Spring.
Garrett Youngblood - Colorado Gamma - Colorado State University
Brother Youngblood will be going into his senior year at Colorado State University and currently serves Colorado Gamma as Chapter President. Garrett holds a 3.3 GPA in Business Administration and Marketing and is pursuing a History minor. On campus at CSU, Garrett is involved with the Business Diversity and Leadership Alliance throught the College of Business, and in the Fort Collins community, he coaches 6th grade flag football. Garrett was recently selected to be a member of the 5-man IFC Recruitment Task Force within the CSU Greek Community. Brother Youngblood attended Phi Delta Theta's Presidents Leadership Conference in 2010 and Recruitment Boot Camp in 2008.
Jeremy Walter - Kansas Epsilon - Emporia State University
Brother Walter is currently serving as the Chapter President of Kansas Epsilon. He is a senior majoring in Crime and Delinquency Studies and has maintained above a 3.9 GPA during his collegiate career. He has also served his chapter as Vice President, Phikeia Educator, and Warden among other positions. On campus, Brother Walter has served as President of the Interfraternity Council and maintains membership in several organizations such as Order of Omega, Alpha Kappa Delta, Sigma Alpha Lambda, ESU Grappling Club, and more. He was recently named the Emporia State University Distinguished Senior, Department of Sociology Outstanding Senior, and ESU Outstanding Greek Man. Brother Walter has attended PLC and ELI.
Justin Shen - Maryland Delta - Johns Hopkins University
Brother Shen is the former Chapter President and Phikeia Educator at Maryland Delta and maintains a 3.56 GPA in International Studies with a minor in Writing Seminars. He is the Bond Number 1 of Maryland Delta, having contacted Phi Delta Theta about expansion to Johns Hopkins University in Fall of 2009. As interest group, colony, and chapter President he has helped Maryland Delta install with a chapter size of 45 in less than a year, with the chapter currrently 60+ strong. Outside of his work with the fraternity, he is a 2010 Johns Hopkins University Aitchison Fellow, a member of Order of Omega, and DJ for WJHU, Johns Hopkins Student Radio. As chapter delegate at past winter's President's Leadership Conference in St. Louis, he is eager to participate in this year's Emerging Leaders Institute.
Marshall McDonald - Florida Alpha - University of Florida
Brother McDonald is a Dean’s List recipient maintaining a 3.62 in Building Construction with a minor of Business and Sustainability at the University of Florida. He also is the current External Vice President for his chapter where he has helped to completely revamp and re-energize the chapter’s risk management program. Outside of school and his work with the Fraternity, Marshall stays busy as the current Treasurer of the Associated General Contractors Club. Marshall attended Phi Delta Theta's Presidents Leadership Conference in 2009. This will be Marshall’s first time attending the Emerging Leader’s Institute and he is anxious to share the knowledge he has gained while helping to build Florida Alpha in to one of the top chapters at UF.
Matt Wells—Nebraska Alpha - University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Brother Wells is the currently serving on the Interfraternity Council Executive Board as the Director of Public Relations and maintains a 3.33 GPA in Finance and Communication. Matt also serves as the Social Chairman of Nebraska Alpha and was a very successful Recruitment Chair for the chapter during the summer of 2009 recruiting the largest pledge class on campus. He is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity and on the College of Engineering Dean’s List. Matt has attended Recruitment Bootcamp and the Emerging Leaders Institute.
Sean Noonan - Iowa Beta - University of Iowa
Brother Noonan is the current Chapter President and a Founding Father of Iowa Beta at the University of Iowa. He carries a 3.34 GPA while studying Finance and Economics, and plans to pursue Law School after graduation. He has served as Colony Vice President and is involved in several student organizations on campus. He is an officer in Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity, and has been on the Dean’s List for 3 semesters. This will be brother Noonan’s first Emerging Leaders Institute, but he has attended the President’s Leadership Conference, Recruitment Boot Camp and will be the chapter delegate at General Convention this summer.
Vince Crowley- Nebraska Gamma - Creighton University
Brother Crowley is a member of Phi Delta Theta's Founders Trophy-Winning Chapter at Creighton University and joined in the spring of his freshman year. He served as Alpha-Omega Chair in his Phikeia class and is currently the Chapter Secretary. He also attended Emerging Leaders Institute in 2009 as an undergraduate delegate. Vince is going to be a junior in the fall and is a biochemistry major and a biology minor with a 3.328 GPA. Vince also is involved in Relay for Life, Chemistry Club, Pre-Medical Society, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and Inter Residence Hall Committee.
William Hall - Pennsylvania Epsilon - Dickinson College
Brother Hall is currently the Chapter's Recruitment Chairman at Pennsylvania Epsilon and is pursuing a Bachelors degree in Political Science and German. He currently maintains a 3.1 GPA, and in the past, William has served as the Chapter's Vice President. He is active on campus at Dickinson but works mostly with Phi Delta Theta and the ROTC program. William is part of the “Read to Stephy” Program and still volunteers with Boy Scouts of America. He has attended Phi Delta Thteta's Presidents Leadership Conference and Emerging Leadership Institute in the last year.
