Expansion to Syracuse University
Syracuse University has existed as an educational institution for almost 180 years since its beginnings as Genesee Wesleyan Seminary. Situated in the largest city in Central New York Syracuse is home to the top schools of architecture, public communication, and entrepreneurial business in the nation. Additionally the Syracuse Orange are top contenders with in the Eastern Conference in a multitude of sports. With over 14,000 undergraduates Syracuse University has asserted itself as one of the premier private research institutions in the nation.
The Syracuse University Chapter of Phi Delta Theta also has a long and impressive history. The Chapter was founded in 1887 and went on to initiate 1,538 men. Included in that list of men is one astronaut (Story Musgrave ’58), one sports comedian (Jonathan Drubner ’91), and two US Lacrosse Hall of Famers (Gary and Paul Gait ’90). Phi Delta Theta is currently looking for highly motivated student leaders who are interested in continuing these men’s legacy by becoming re-founding fathers of this Chapter.
Becoming a founding father of Phi Delta Theta at Syracuse provides the opportunity to connect with a professional network of more than 160,000 living alumni throughout North America and Canada. Seven hundred of these alumni live within 50 miles of the Syracuse University campus. For many of Phi Delta Theta's Founding Fathers, this experience allows them to expand their professional and personal leadership abilities, as well as provides them with the tools that they need to succeed in their lives after college.
Phi Delta Theta can lead these types of students to greatness:
As a part of our return to campus the alumni of Phi Delta Theta’s Syracuse University chapter are offering five $1,000 scholarships to non-Greek undergraduate men. We are looking for men who demonstrate a devotion to academic achievement and a commitment to making both the University and surrounding community better places to live. Most importantly, we seek men who desire to develop skills that will help them become more successful in college, but will also carry over to their professional and personal lives.
