Phi Delta Theta does not condone any form of hazing. It is contrary to the purpose of fraternity, let alone Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Members can still achieve a close group of men throughout the organization without hazing and Phi Delta Theta General Headquarters offers resources to help transplant negative activities with positive ones.
Phi Delta Theta encourages family members to discuss hazing and other new member practices. Family members have the unique opportunity to speak one-on-one about the dangers of hazing. We offer to you, on this page, additional resources to supplement your discussions.

Hazing Prevention Week Blog Series
Each year Phi Delta Theta conducts a blog series during the National Hazing Prevention Week. Visit the link to read many posts from Phi Delt members and friends.
“Don’t Tarnish the Badge” Anti-Hazing Philosophy
Our Fraternity has initiated an anti-hazing philosophy, “Don’t Tarnish the Badge.” Click on the title to view a PDF of the program. “Don’t Tarnish the Badge” confronts the common excuses offered in defense of hazing and defines the disciplinary actions that will result should hazing be detected in any chapter. Furthermore, the program offers alternatives to build brotherhood rather than tear it down.
Hazing Amnesty Program
The governing body of Phi Delta Theta freely offers a hazing amnesty program to chapter officers. We will help any chapter officer that willingly comes forward, admits his chapter has a hazing problem, and is sincere about stopping these practices. We actively assist chapters to develop alternatives to hazing and a meaningful pledge program that embraces our Cardinal Principles of friendship, sound learning, and moral rectitude.
Sponsorships:
Phi Delta Theta has once again partnered with Hazing Prevention to sponsor the 2010-2011 Anti-Hazing Hero Awards. Each year, five individuals are recognized for their actions in promoting respectful membership intake processes that value human dignity and potential, for educating others about the dangers of hazing, or for standing up to hazing in some way.
Do you know someone who has been heroic enough to expose hazing, educate about the problem, or in some way work to combat this dangerous practice? Then nominate them for the Anti-Hazing Hero Award. Awards will be given in both student and non-student categories, and recipients will receive a cash prize. All entries must be received by September 26, 2010 for the 2010 awards, but Hazing Prevention always accepts nominations for the next year.

Phi Delta Theta does everything possible to educate its members on the detrimental effects of hazing. Nevertheless, we need the assistance of parents, siblings, relatives, friends, peers, and university officials to further spread the message that hazing is wrong.
