California Upsilon (Fresno State) Colonizes with 34 Founding Fathers

ca_upsilon_colony.jpgOn October 24, 2009, thirty-four men were inducted into the California Upsilon colony of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity at California State University-Fresno (Fresno State).  The colonization of California Upsilon now marks the 20th Campus in the Golden State to have a chapter or colony of Phi Delta Theta.

In the spring of 2009, Fresno State’s Greek official and Interfraternity Council President contact Phi Delta Theta Fraternity to campus.  After surveying the campus, it was determined that Phi Delta Theta’s expansion team would begin recruiting the Founding Fathers of California Upsilon this fall.  After a successful recruitment and education period, 34 men were identified on the Fresno State campus who possessed the values and qualities necessary to start a strong chapter of Phi Delt on campus.  These men included student leaders in almost every facet of campus including ASI (student government), co-ed business/honorary fraternities, agricultural business, and club sports.

The colonization ceremony  was presided over by Omicron North Province President Phil DeCarlo, Northridge ’77, and was attended several sorority leaders on campus as well as many by of the newly appointed Colony Advisory Board members from chapters all across North America.

The colony hopes to become installed as a chapter in the spring semester.  Congratulations can be sent to colony President Matt Keinberg at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
