Following his graduation from Vanderbilt University, William Estes joined the family wholesale lumber business, T.H. Estes Lumber Co., in Nashville, where he is still president.
Mr. Estes attended his first Phi Delta Theta Convention in 1964 in Pasadena, California as a Nashville Alumni Club delegate, and continued on from there in leadership roles supporting the Fraternity. In 1969, he was appointed Province President for the Eta South Province and served for 25 years as a general officer. From 1980-1993, he was a Foundation Trustee, and was later named Foundation Trustee Emeritus. He was also involved as an officer of the Nashville Alumni Club for 41 years. At the 1994 Scottsdale Convention, Brother Estes received the prestigious Legion of Merit Award for his distinguished service to Phi Delta Theta.
Brother Estes served as chairman of the Phi Delta Theta Foundation Scholarship Committee and worked tirelessly reviewing the scholarship applications for 28 years.
A former president of the Nashville Vanderbilt Club and involved in many university alumni affairs, Mr. Estes is also a former director of the North American Wholesale Lumber Association and a former member of the Nashville Rotary Club.
Bill Estes and his wife, Allister, have been married for over 50 years and have a son and daughter, both of whom live in Nashville and are presidents of their own companies.
